Atypical reliefs, invigorating rivers, sporty lakes and the Mediterranean Sea ideal for relaxation

Go hiking in the Haut-Languedoc Natural Park, explore the volcanic reliefs of Lake Salagou by mountain bike or paddleboard, and venture into the Clape massif, between vineyards and cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean. The beaches of Sète, Valras, and Gruissan offer perfect spots for sailing and kitesurfing, while the Gorges d’Héric promise clear-water swimming and spectacular climbing.

Beyond the easy walks around Capestang and the Canal du Midi, the region offers many other possibilities:

  • Hiking (the Cirque de Mourèze and its unique landscape resembling a mineral labyrinth; the Pic Saint-Loup, the ascent of which offers an exceptional panorama of the Cévennes and the Mediterranean, or the Montagne Noire with its dense forests and shaded paths, perfect for walking enthusiasts).
  • Water activities (canoeing in the Orb which you can go down between Roquebrun and Cessenon, scuba diving in Sète on wildlife and wreck spots, paddle and sailing on the Thau lagoon or in Vendres).
  • Bicycle and mountain bike (greenway accessible from Capestang and other circuits of Passa Païs or in Caroux).
  • Horse riding(between Capestang and Quarante).
  • Other unusual experiences (watching flamingos in the Gruissan Salt Marshes, horse riding in the Minervois vineyards or on Sérignan beach).
