The Gîte de la Collégiale de Capestang is a charming accommodation designed by your hosts Christine and Vincent in a winegrower's building, located inside the old 12th-century enclosure, on which other buildings of various shapes and functions have been built over the centuries. The most remarkable of these is a 19th-century mansion with a facade beautifully adorned with architectural ornaments, reflecting a prosperous period in the history of this village with medieval origins.
Located a stone's throw from the very touristy Canal du Midi, this unusual accommodation stands in the shadow of the Saint Étienne collegiate church, a 12th-century building listed as a historic monument in 1906, and whose extraordinary dimensions correspond to the village motto "audaces fortuna juvat".
In addition to its historical interest and its ideal geographical location in the Hérault department (see the About tab), the commune of Capestang (from the Latin caput stagnum: the head of the pond) also has a remarkable natural heritage: a Natura 2000 site and three natural areas of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest.
